Film Review: Zootopia 2 (9/10)

Back in action where more mystery awaits the world of Zootopia

We come back to the fictional world of the multi-weather land that is Zootopia directed by Jared Bush and Byron howard that also worked on the 1st Zootopia movie that takes us to more mystery that awaits in the world of Zootopia. We see the return of the duo judy hopps(played by ginnifer goodwin) and nick wilde(played by Jason Bateman) go into more adventures as they discover the history behind the creation of Zootopia. The story is self explanatory and gives you cheesy but funny animal reference and some with other movie references that will leave you in awe.

The bright vivid colors and amazing sound makes it worth the nine year wait.

STORY (2/2)

The story takes place one week after the events of the first Zootopia movie where judy and nick are now official partners for the Zootopia police department but there personalities complicate their work. To which their chief threatens them of separating them unless they attend a therapy session to save their partnership. The movie is about trust and shows how trust can come a long way be it partnership, and love one or just trust in family.

The movie also explores on the mystery of the creation of Zootopia and its expansion of the land for more animals to live on in there natural habitat. We also get to see new characters in the film to set up the plot as the movie continues and the return of gazelle(played by Shakira) performing her new music during the films run. But will judy and nick solve the case and work as a team or will there partnership be in shambles?

VISUALS (2/2)

The movie still holds up with its bright and vivid colors and every character stands out to let audience know what type of animals are in the film. It also embraces whenever it goes to a different area of Zootopia to show what animals are there in there natural habitat with certain mammals are in a winter/snow area. To going to a desert and seeing camels or other land mammals in that area. It is draws you in to these different worlds where the animals of Zootopia live at and doesn't stop with its unique moments and some history behind it.

The details of the characters in Zootopia are amazing and they stand out when there introduced or talking among another. The areas the movie shows also give out a nice natural habitat for when the movies switches to different scenes.

SOUND (2/2)

The sound of Zootopia 2 are very clear and fits well with some of the characters that speak to having a lizard having a sizzling sound when they speak to having other mammals giving out unique noises when they howl or foot tapping. There is also a new music made by Shakira when she plays as gazelle and in good ole Shakira fashion stands out in the film with its catchy chorus.

There was a moment where the movie switches to a scene it starts playing a noise more familiar with horror fans that it starts playing the shinning theme. I watched this movie in IMax which gives out the most of the sound of the characters, to its busy city noises and bustling water district that leaves you wanting to see more of the world of Zootopia 2.

CHARACTER (1/2)

Judy and nick are the duo that have there complications when it comes to being partners for the Zootopia police department where we see judy being by the book, being neat and wanting to be in control. Whereas nick is more laid back and nonchalant about things when things get serious but they do care about each other they still don’t have that trust in one another.

My favorite duo by far.

We also get introduced to new characters in the film to keep the story going and uncover the mystery behind the creation of Zootopia. But there are some characters on here that made me just not be interested in due to the reasoning behind why that character chose to be that way. Some of the voice acting are incredible and some not so much with its plot twist behind why they're villains.

FACTOR X (1.5/2)

Overall i still think this movie is worth the 9 year wait ever since the first movie i was intrigued in when the sequel will drop. To its funny animal references and some references from other movies like the Godfather and the shinning for example. Judy and nick kept the ball rolling when tryna uncover a case while trying to maintain a trust in there partnership as officers of the law. Which made me believe in the two to solve a case or being separated as partners permanently.

The bond between those two helped strengthen there trust as the movie went on. Zootopia 2 is a warm and wonderful film that draws its audience with its bright colors and talks about trust in one another. It is a delightful film for all ages and I look forward to another Zootopia if there is one, def recommend for anyone that loves Pixar animations.

Zootopia 2 feels like that rare sequel that remembers exactly why we fell in love with its world in the first place while daring to grow just a little deeper and a little braver. It brings back the charm, the humor, and the heartfelt moments that made the original special, and it wraps them in a new adventure filled with mystery, friendship, and lessons about trust that resonate far beyond the screen.

What truly makes this film shine is how it balances its playful spirit with real emotional stakes, allowing Judy and Nick to stumble, argue, and ultimately learn what it means to show up for someone even when it’s hard. The world-building expands in fun and thoughtful ways, giving us new corners of Zootopia to admire while still honoring the heart of the first film. And while not every character lands as strongly as the leads, the movie never loses sight of the partnership that anchors the entire story.

In the end, Zootopia 2 is joyful, tender, and full of life. It celebrates the messiness of teamwork, the beauty of loyalty, and the magic of believing in someone enough to trust them with the journey. For longtime fans and new audiences alike, it’s a reminder of why animated films endure: they teach us, entertain us, and offer just a little more hope than we had walking in.

FINAL SCORE: 9/10
