HOLY HELL: Leslie Odom Jr. Is Making a Savage Horror Flick About Sammy Davis Jr. and the Church of Satan

Listen up, because this is the craziest, most fire news drop Hollywood has given us all year. Leslie Odom Jr., yes, the smooth-talking, Tony-winning Aaron Burr himself, is not just making a movie, he's making a straight-up horror feature about one of the most iconic, complex entertainers ever: Sammy Davis Jr.

But here’s the kicker that makes this project hit hard: it’s all about Davis’s secret, two-decade-long connection to the infamous Church of Satan and its founder, Anton Szandor LaVey.

Odom Jr. just acquired the rights to the wild 2024 Rolling Stone article, “Dance With the Devil,” which finally puts a spotlight on the unthinkable friendship between the beloved Rat Pack legend and the controversial High Priest. The whole twisted saga reportedly kicked off after a bizarre 1970s TV pilot called Poor Devil.

Forget your standard biopic. This is going to be a deep, dark, psychological dive into alienation, identity, and the search for acceptance that drove Davis into one of the most polarizing corners of American counter-culture.

Director and star Odom Jr. isn't just delivering cheap jump scares. This is a story loaded with complex, high-stakes themes—racial identity, religion, and pop culture colliding in a horrifying way. The fact that the story is based on real-world history elevates this to a must-watch event. If Odom Jr. brings the same intensity he brought to Hamilton and One Night in Miami, this film is going to be pure, savage cinema. Get ready, because the devil has officially started dancing.
